If you love sweet maple syrup on top of your waffles or pancakes, these little (or big) jugs of pure maple syrup direct from a small farm in Virginia are sure to please. What we love about this farm is that they still do things the old fashioned way. During the 4 – 6 week long maple season, they hang 1000 sap buckets on trees throughout the farm and collect it by hand every day.  For every 40 gallons of sap that they collect, they can boil it down to create just one gallon of pure maple syrup.

You can buy plastic jugs and even glass maple-leaf shaped containers full of pure maple syrup at Southernmost Maple’s website. Prices range from $5.25 for a 1/2 pint up to $41 for a full gallon. We recommend the practical plastic jugs if you are buying this sweet treat for yourself and the more decorative glass bottles if you are giving it as a gift. Southernmost Maple also sells maple peanuts, maple pecans and even maple flavored sugar. The syrup is so good that it has been given the Virginia’s Finest seal of approval from the state.
